Audience is the most significant element of participatory performance.
I am not only interested in engaging you throughout the show.
I seek to get you involved in the after talk, I seek your views, your criticism, your experience of the event, your narrative.

I very much enjoyed participating in such a thought provoking performance. The experience of performing in an improvisatory framework provided an unusual energy and excitement. Perhaps, made possible only by such a creative and cooperative team of people.
ReplyDeleteOmiro showed great innovation in her presentation of the piece and the clever dissolution of the boundaries between the audience and cast. Her manipulation of the space was most effective and drew the audience on a journey through the performance.
With a greater attention to the control of the lighting and sound, the piece has great potential for development. Although, on the night of the performance some technical difficulties were unavoidable, there was still room for further preparation and greater control of the lighting and sound. Having said this, other ideas like the live-feed projector and use of audience torches were very impressive.
The movement direction was also an exceptional feature, with some of the most stimulating special effects being produced with simple costume and the human body. This also helped to express the action in visual terms and governed the pace of the narrative without the need for dense dialouge. This use of movement also helped to include the audience members in the space of the action.
It was great fun and I will no doubt get involved in Omiro's further developments.
Thanks

The concept was highly original with a fantastic location, and truly magical set design and a wonderful cast/crew.
ReplyDeleteWhilst we were under the pressure of time, it was a thoroughly enjoyable creative experience where everyone pulled together to make the performance a reality.
This project/performance really has potential for further development, which was commented by many of the cast.
The use of space, sound and light transformed Canterbury Castle into a truly magical place. Well done Omiro and to all involved!

With very modest know-how in the field, for me it was a real experience this performance. Spreading other people’s feedback as well I would conclude that it was intriguing and different. Of course, the weather wasn’t on our side but it was even more challenging; was nice to see how people were going with the flow and making it happen. Well done Omiro! Congratualtions!
